ABOUT
Born last century, during the disco years, Oliver Miles is a mutlifaceted artist.
Painting, video, graphic design, drawing, post-production motion design, linocut, some projects call for all trades at once. Always trying out new techniques, out of sheer curiosity or for the needs of a particular project
He gets his inspiration from the 20th century, starting with Russian avant-garde of the 1920's, to propagada art from the 40's, to American 50's ads, 60's pop art, 70's psychadellic to the overboard of the 80's.
He likes the graphic, colorful and impactful simplicity and the power of a single image speaking a thousand words.
He has a serious dislike for goodie two shoes art, pandering and the politically correct
Calling out hypocracy and devoted to the absurd is his calling card.
Life is too short to be taken seriously, might as well laugh and have fun!
Hence the subversion, satire and non-conformism in his work.
BACKGROUND
From the French shores of Lake Geneva, he goes to study at the University of Montpellier, where he gets a diploma in arts. He then moves to Paris where he studies in a cinema school and gets a diploma of Motion Designer 2D Special Effects. He starts his carreer in 2005 at Mtv Networks France as a Print Graphic Designer in charge of five channels, Mtv, Mtv Pulse, Mtv Idol, Nickelodeon and Game One and the whole Mtv Network. He then becomes a freelance motion designer for some prestigious post-production companies like Partizan Midi-Minuit, that did music videos for Björk and many other big names. Parallel to that, he publishes a coloring book of skulls, aptly named the Skulloring Book which has a fantastic success and sold out in 6 months. In 2011 he returns to his home shores of Lake Geneva and works as a Motion Designer for a cooking show on Swiss tv called Pique Assiette from 2012 to 2025. He also has been making posters for the events in his village, as well as annual art shows. During his last show he made an oracle card game (like a tarot game to tell the future) named the Oracle of Honnesty, don't ask the question if you don't want the answer ;). In the same theme, he made a Book of Answers, 200 tailored answers for existential questions.
